About Casey Jones Distillery (With 2023 Updates)
Take a trip back one-hundred years, to a time when Casey Jones mastered his still making craft at Golden Pond. In a country that was “dry” during Prohibition, he was the moonshiner’s go to man when they needed easily transportable stills. Casey’s grandson A. J. and his wife Peg have brought this legacy to the Casey Jones Distillery.
Located just north of Hopkinsville in rural Kentucky, they are creating modern moonshines and bourbons using the same coffin still design his grandfather perfected in the days of the bootleggers.
For a real treat, see the coffin pot still the Federal Government commissioned for their Land Between the Lakes National Park-it rests above the bar in the Distillery Lounge. During the tour, learn about Casey’s two stints at the Mill Point Federal Penitentiary, and then enjoy a tasting of their Small Batch Bourbon and a wide selection of moonshines. If it is a nice day, take a stroll down by the lake after your tour.
2023 Update: Big $2 million expansion of the distillery with an added rickhouse. The tasting and experience area has doubled in size and you can taste your spirits or cocktails out on the porch while looking at the lake. You'll see a smaller operational square still and a 1000 gallon hybrid pot still. Pet friendly and walk-ins welcome.
As seen in "Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon."
