About Four Roses Distillery
Built in 1910 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Four Roses Distillery is a unique experience in bourbon country. Its Spanish Mission architecture harkens back to a style that was all the rage in Southern California in the early twentieth century. Recent renovations are complete and the renovated distillery highlights the tour.
Four Roses has a fascinating history. What started as a family whiskey rectifying business evolved into the most popular bourbon of post World War II America. It disappeared from American shelves for almost fifty years, until master distiller Jim Rutledge and the Japanese firm Kirin helped bring it back to the United States.
During a short film, you will hear the legend that brought Four Roses its name. Then you will walk to the historic distillery and learn about their bourbon making process. At the end of the tour, there is a guided tasting and description of their ten recipes.
As seen in "Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon."
