In 1881, Peerless Whiskey made its debut in Henderson, Kentucky and then shut down during Prohibition. But unlike most Prohibition casualties, this distillery would revive under the guidance of Corky and Carson Taylor. Reimagined in 2014, this urban distillery graces the western end of Whiskey Row in Louisville.
Kentucky Peerless specializes in small batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, non-chill filtered, and bottled at barrel strength. They are one of three distilleries in the state that use a sweet mash process.
When you first walk in the distillery, there is an immediate warm greeting by Rye, the Instagram feline star (follow @ryemeow_) and adopted distillery cat. From there, you will join in the family history as your guide, or even Corky Taylor himself, will give you the story of the rise and fall, and rising again of Peerless. The tour walks you through the distilling process, a single story rickhouse, and into their beautiful pub-like tasting room.
