About Glenns Creek Distilling
If you want formula tours and state-of-the-art distilling, look elsewhere. If you want to find passionate distillers, serious about doing craft whiskey and showing you that process, then check out Glenn’s Creek Distillery. This is what it is like in the craft distilling trenches. Here you will see each step of the process. If you are lucky, you might even get involved in a step or two.
When I visited, I mentioned my love for whiskey history, and they amazed me with their wealth of knowledge. They also provide a lot of background on the Old Crow Distillery that sits directly behind Glenn’s Creek Distillery.
One of their most interesting spirits is OCD #5. Those initials should look familiar as they come from the Old Crow Distillery, as does the wild yeast strain they use in this bourbon. They took the yeast from fermentation tank #5 in the abandoned distillery. Is it the original strain? That is hard to say.
As seen in "Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon."
