Nelson's Green Brier Distillery
About Nelson's Green Brier Distillery
For nearly 40 years, Nelson's Green Brier was the best-selling Tennessee whiskey. The brainchild of German immigrant, Charles Nelson, the distillery remained a success after his death under the guidance of his wife Louisa. After Prohibition, the brand was all but forgotten, until brother Charlie and Andy Nelson learned of their ancestor's legendary distillery. To raise money, they revived the Belle Meade brand developed by Charles' former partner John Sperry. The success of that sourced whiskey helped them monitize their dream.
The tour of Nelson's Green Brier Distillery offers a comprehensive look into the distillery's past, present, and future. Visitors can explore the distillery's history, witness the production process firsthand, see the barrel they mellow their whiskey in, and indulge in a premium tasting of four seasonal offerings. Additionally, the distillery offers various premium tasting experiences, cocktail classes, whiskey pairings, and a Wednesday Happy Hour. After the tour, stay for a meal in their full featured restaurant or watch for events in the Oak Room.
