About Kingsbarns Distillery
Located on a historic farm, Kingsbarns Distillery is a testament to the Wemyss family's deep Scottish roots and whisky heritage. The family's connection to whisky dates back to their ancestors' leasing of land to the renowned Haig family for their Cameronbridge grain distillery. As independent bottlers and blenders, the Wemyss family decided to embark on their own distilling journey, converting the semi-derelict steading into the Kingsbarns Distillery.
Visitors can choose between two tours: the Kingsbarns Tour and the extended Dream to Dram tour. During these tours, guests will learn about the family's history, witness the distilling process firsthand, and experience the aromas and flavors of their whiskies with a tasting of unfinished new make and two single malts. Despite being a new distillery, having released their first single malt in 2019, Kingsbarns has quickly gained a positive reputation for its flagship single malt, Doocot, which is aged in a mix of ex-Bourbon American Oak Barrels and shaved, toasted, and re-charred American Oak Barrels. Other spirits from Kingsbarns utilize a variety of casks.
