About Lerwick (Shetland) Distillery

Founded by Martin Watt, Lerwick Distillery aims to incorporate Shetland's unique climate into the creation of Scotch whisky, aspiring to produce a local brand with global appeal. To achieve this vision, Watt enlisted the expertise of William Grant & Sons veteran Ian Millar as the master distiller.

Located in Lerwick, a charming small harbor town known for its dramatic weather, rugged coastline, and warm Norse character, the distillery combines Scottish congeniality with a distinct Shetland flair. As Scotland's most northerly outpost, reaching Lerwick requires careful planning, with arrival by cruise ship often the most practical option. While tours of the distillery are not yet available, the website is the best source for updates. Lerwick Distillery is dedicated to crafting Shetland's single malt into an extraordinary, sought-after, exclusive premium product.
