Dartmoor Whisky Distillery was born out of a friends' trip to Islay, inspiring them to harness the potential of Devon's farmers and beer producers to create a whisky distillery. Enlisting the expertise of Springbank distillery veteran Frank McHardy, they set out to produce top-quality single-malt, single-cask whiskies. Using a beautifully refurbished ex-Cognac still brought from France, they distill whisky from grain sourced from a single local farmer and beer produced by a local brewer. Visitors can attend a tasting event on Saturdays, which delves into the distillery's background and the farm-to-glass whisky-making process; pre-booking is encouraged.
