New Riff Distilling
About New Riff Distilling
After twenty-five years owning a party store, Founder Ken Lewis was ready to make his mark in the Kentucky bourbon industry. So, along with his Co-Founder Jay Erisman they developed a distillery right on the same property. New Riff sits directly across the river from Cincinnati.
I must admit, their beautiful statuesque bottles and branding were the inspiration for my visit. But once on-site, their passion for quality and breaking new ground took center stage. They pay attention to the little things, including the quality of the beer that they produce prior to distillation. The whiskey is non-chill filtered and follows strict bottled-in-bond standards.
The tour travels through the entire distillation process. As you climb and descend the stairs, you view fermentation, milling, and work your neck muscles checking out the three story column still. We sampled their 135 proof high rye bourbon at the still and tasted the 100 proof and single barrel expressions at the guided tasting.
