About Town Branch Distillery
Experience a little of the old country at this distillery and brewery combination on the edge of Downtown Lexington. Founded by Irishman Pearse Lyons-whose name also graces a distillery in Dublin-this is one of the few Kentucky distilleries that produces a single malt whiskey in the Scottish tradition.
The tour starts with a video that introduces Lexington’s brewing heritage. It also includes the late-founder Pearse Lyons talking about his vision for the distillery and the birth of their bourbon-barrel aged Kentucky Ale.
As the walking portion of the tour begins, the guide takes you to the brewery and then the beer tasting room. After the beer samples, the tour continues across the street in the distillery. The main room features two wooden wash tubs and two beautiful Forsyth Pot Stills from Speyside, Scotland. They also have a spirit safe that is very popular in scotch distilleries. After learning their process for making their spirits, the tour finishes with a tasting of their spirits.
