About James E. Pepper Distillery
In 2008, Amir Peay saw an opportunity to take an abandoned distillery, restore its history, develop a craft distillery, and make it a showplace surrounded by music, food, and entertainment. Today, James E. Pepper Distillery is the centerpiece of north Lexington’s Distillery District.
While James E. Pepper celebrates its past with its 1776 branded bourbon and rye, they are also developing some unique whiskeys including a single malt.
The tour begins with a walk through the distillery museum. Your guide introduces you to the stories of Kentucky Colonel James E. Pepper, his wife Ella, and the historic origins of the property. As the tour continues, you walk through a day in the life of a distillery, as they unveil the whiskey making process. At one point, they encourage you to sample both new make spirit and aged product pulled from the barrel.
As seen in "Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon."
